Cummins reports strong 2Q profits

(July 31, 2012) -- Second quarter revenue of $4.45 billion decreased four percent from the same quarter in 2011. Excluding the impact of divestitures and currency movements, revenues were flat year over year. Growth in North America offset weakness in international markets, particularly China and Brazil.

Canadian GDP, U.S. personal income both rise

(July 31, 2012) -- Canada's May 2012 gross domestic product increased a smaller than expected 0.1 percent in the month that was down from a 0.3 percent gain recorded in April. U.S. personal income spurted by 0.5 percent in June, which was the fastest gain in three months, said Desjardins. Disposable income rose by 0.4 percent and, combined with the flat reading for spending, pushed the savings rate up to 4.4 percent.

Consumer confidence rises three points

(July 31, 2012) -- “Despite this month’s improvement in confidence, the overall Index remains at historically low levels," said Franco. "Consumers’ attitudes regarding current conditions were little changed in July, but their short-term expectations, which had declined last month, bounced back. However, while consumers expressed greater optimism about short-term business and employment prospects, they have grown more pessimistic about their earnings. Given the current economic environment — in particular the weak labor market — consumer confidence is not likely to gain any significant momentum in the coming months.”

RVDA convention offers RV rental workshops

Attendees will learn about the nuts and bolts of RV rental agreements, updates on RV rental law and how to choose what products to offer, said Phil Ingrassia, president of the RV Dealers Association.

TXAD develops three new campground websites

(July 31, 2012) -- All three campgrounds websites had been hosted by TXAD Internet Services but were looking for a more contemporary look. They all are classified as ‘Deluxe’ websites that come with search engine optimization and website changes included for the first year. In the case of Catskill Adventure Resort, they also included a .mobi version of their new website.

Priority One offers online OFAC search for dealers

All businesses, including recreational dealerships, are required by law, to review this list prior to entering into any sales or finance contract. The government’s list has limited functionality and will not detect misspellings or other incorrectly entered text, and will not return near matches. Priority One takes care of that problem.
