RV shipments up 2.2 percent over 2011

(April 25, 2012) -- Wholesale shipments to retailers of all RVs were reported at 28,100 units in the March 2012 survey of manufacturers conducted by the RV Industry Association.   However, several key segments reported no change over 2011. They included travel trailers, folding campers and Type C motorhomes. Truck campers and Type A motorhomes posted declines last month.

RVDA plans Molino retirement dinner

(April 25, 2012) -- The volunteer leaders of the RV Dealers Association announced today they will host a celebration honoring Mike Molino’s 24 years of service to the association, 16 of which were as RVDA president. The event takes place June 12 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va., starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $100.00 each, and must be reserved before May 21.

Sika hires new research technician

(April 25, 2012) -- Prior to joining Sika, Elizabeth Farhat worked for Delphi Corporation for 10 years, and for PPG Chemical in various chemist roles. Project focuses have included electrochemical sensors, solid oxide fuel cells, as well as various gas and particulate sensors. She is also a named contributor on three patents.

Orders for durable goods fall 4 percent

(April 25, 2012) -- "The drop in capital goods orders in March was disappointing and will likely raise concerns about the strength of business investment going forward," said Janzen. "With that said, the strengthening in the corresponding shipments measure in March and February following a disappointing drop in January suggests, if anything, some upside risk to our forecast that business capital investment rose at a 3.5 percent rate in the first quarter of 2012 following a 7.5 percent rise in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Dealers profit from customer follow-up

(April 24, 2012) -- Follow-up activities need to be more than just a one-time event that may or may not happen. There needs to be a strategy behind it. An in-depth plan that retains what you've worked so hard to get, your customers. Most of the time we think of post-sale follow-ups as strictly a sales activity. We should be just as thankful to a customer buying parts or service as we are to someone buying a unit. And with customers coming in more for parts and service than new units, perhaps we should thank them even more.

Torklift releases basement camper step
