Initial unemployment claims rise by 8,000 last week

(Feb. 4, 2016) -- Initial unemployment claims in the United States unexpectedly rose by 8,000 to 285,000 in the week ending Jan. 30. Continuing claims for the week ending Jan. 23 fell by 18,000 to 2,255,000.
