Viking bankruptcy causes industry confusion

(May 3, 2012) -- According to sources familiar with the situation, the confusion stems from a transaction in 2008 to merge Coachmen RV, which owned Viking Recreational Vehicles, with Forest River. RV Daily Report has learned that Forest River acquired the intellectual property associated with Viking Recreational Vehicles, including the rights to use the brand names and product designs, as well as its Michigan manufacturing facility. However, Forest River did not take over the debt or liabilities for Viking Recreational Vehicles. In response to numerous inquiries yesterday, Coachmen President Mike Terlep issued the following letter to its RV dealers today.
