API develops interactive map showing gas taxes

(March 23, 2015) -- Oil companies claim they earn 5.5 cents for every gallon of gas refine, shipped and sold in the United States. The federal gas tax remains constant at 18.4 percent. At 50.5 cents per gallon, Pennsylvania leads the way with the highest state taxes on gasoline. Alaska ranks last at 12.4 cents per gallon.
