Manufacturing activity eases, but construction spending up

(June 2, 2014) -- Activity in the U.S. manufacturing sector continued to expand in May, albeit at a slower pace than the previous month as indicated by the ISM manufacturing index slipping to 53.2 from 54.9 in April. Construction spending in the United States edged up by 0.2 percent in April.
