U.S. consumer prices nearly stable

(March 18, 2014) -- The year-over-year rate moderated to 1.1 percent from 1.6 percent in January. The muted monthly increase in the headline index reflected a 0.5 percent decline in the energy component as gasoline prices fell 1.7 percent in February.
