U.S., Canada both show job increases in December

(Jan. 7, 2013) -- December payroll employment rose by 155,000 in the month, which was in line with market expectations of a 153,000 increase in the month, RBC Economics reported today. Canadian employment jumped by 39,800 in December 2012 following November's 59,300 surge, well beyond the consensus forecast for a 5,000 job increase.
