Why businesses need to care about PCI compliance
(Jan. 2, 2013) -- In 2004, Visa, MasterCard and Discover established the Processing Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). Failure to comply with those rules will result in charges added on to credit card statements and, after six months, the suspension of the credit card account. If the account is re-established, the merchant may be subject to quarterly forensic audits.
