U.S. unemployment rises; Canada adds 1,800 jobs

However, a separate household survey indicated an expected rise in the unemployment rate to 7.9 percent from 7.8 percent in September. Canadian employment inched up by 1,800 in October, which was weaker than the consensus forecast for a 10,000 job increase.
