GDP rises 0.2 percent, personal spending 0.5

(Sept. 28, 2012) -- July 2012 GDP rose 0.2 percent thereby building further onto a 0.1 percent gain in June. Personal consumer expenditure (PCE) rose 0.5 percent in August 2012 following July's 0.4 percent increase. However, personal income increased at a disappointing 0.1 percent rate accompanied with a downgrade to July's increase to 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent.
