Canada’s trade deficit widens, U.S. deficit narrows
(Aug. 9, 2012) -- The Canadian trade deficit in June was larger than expected at $1.8 billion, which was up from a $1.0 billion deficit in May, RBC Economics reported today. The United States trade deficit was $42.9 billion in June 2012, which was smaller than the expected $47.5 billion shortfall. Initial unemployment insurance claims filed in the United States fell by 6,000 in the week ending Aug. 4.
