Canadian GDP rises; U.S. personal spending falls

(June 29, 2012) -- April 2012 gross domestic product (GDP) in Canada rose a stronger than expected 0.3 percent in the month following an unrevised 0.1 percent gain in March and a 0.2 percent drop in February. Personal consumer expenditure (PCE) in the United States was unchanged in May 2012 following 0.1 percent gains in both April and March that marked notable downward revisions from previously reported 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent increases, respectively.

Elizabeth Taylor’s travel trailer sells for $51,660

(June 29, 2012) -- According to the auction listing; "Twentieth Century Fox spent a rumored $75,000 in 1960s dollars ($560,000 in today's dollars) to build a fully customized 36-foot dressing room/trailer for the star. Designed in the theme of the Egyptian/Roman epic, the RV was intended to keep Taylor in the true character of Cleopatra. The 36-foot Aljo trailer includes full columns mounted on the walls, hand-painted ceilings, and hand-painted murals in the bedroom.

RVIA leaders meet with Chinese RV officials

(June 29, 2012) -- Kirby said the rapid growth of China's automobile industry will greatly facilitate the development of RV industry in the United States, the paper noted. Hopkins, who oversees RV standards at RVIA, recognized the establishment of a motorhome committee by CAAM. “We finally have an RV unit to work with," said Hopkins. "We hope to carry out the in-depth exchanges with the parties concerned in China to jointly promote the development of the RV industry.”
