The four-week moving average of initial claims, which better controls for weekly volatility, declined to 375,000 from 379,750 the previous week. Continuing claims rose 18,000 to 3,265,000 after falling 43,000 to 3,247,000 the previous week.

(May 17, 2012) -- Farm Island Recreation Area's main campground is set to open on May 24. Oahe Downstream Recreation Area's Campground 3 will open for the year starting May 18. Campground 2 will be ready for campers Friday, May 25. All campsites at North Point Recreation Area near Pickstown will be open May 18.

(May 17, 2012) -- The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces a temporary campground closure at Lake Easton State Park while diseased trees are being removed. Utility campsites 1 through 44 are currently closed but are expected to be open the morning of May 25 in time for Memorial Day weekend camping.
