CAW plans demonstration to support Navistar employees

(April 20, 2012) -- The Canadian Autoworkers Union (CAW) is planning a demonstration in support of Navistar truck employees on Saturday, April 21 at noon outside Truck World - Canada's National Truck Show in Toronto. The demonstration is in support of Navistar truck employees from Chatham, Ontario who are seeking a fair and equitable closure agreement with the company.

Lazydays conducts food drive in Tucson

(April 20, 2012) -- There will be non-perishable food drive boxes set up in the campground, service area, and sales area for donations made today. On Saturday, the donations will be taken to Youth On Their Own facilities and stocked on the shelves so that these homeless teens will have one less worry to deal with.

Interior official discusses challenges, solutions

(April 20, 2012) -- Asked about encouraging risk taking and creativity within the agencies, Jacobson noted the need for innovation and declared that “there is plenty of room for creativity.”  Parks in particular had a fair amount of discretion, she said, providing room to try innovative ideas.  With challenges regarding administration of fees to the development of national park general management plans, Jacobson said the best way to tackle such challenges is by giving her administration four more years to work on a solution.

Court blocks April 30 labor posting deadline

(April 20, 2012) -- Last year, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) published a new rule that requires most employers to notify employees of their right to organize under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). April 30 was the deadline for employers to post information in conspicuous places to alert employees to this right, but a D.C. court has blocked the rule from taking effect.
