(March 11, 2013) -- In South Dakota, the Elk Mountain Campground is closed at Wind Cave National Park as the park begins implementing a 5 percent across-the-board cut in its operating budget due to sequestration. Further cuts to visitor services, such as fewer ranger-led programs, will be implemented as the summer nears.

(March 11, 2013) -- Kentucky State Parks will be serving their annual Easter buffets March 31, and several parks are planning other special events.

(March 8, 2013) -- ARVC says: “If you, like many ARVC members, are concerned about the current legislative and regulatory climate and how it is affecting our industry, we invite you to join the ARVC Chairman’s Club. (March 8, 2013) -- In consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Grand Teton National Park law enforcement rangers completed their comprehensive investigation into the fatal shooting of a grizzly bear on Thanksgiving morning 2012 by three hunters participating in the park's elk reduction program. As the final step in the process, the United States Attorney's Office has determined that no criminal charges will be filed against the hunters involved in this incident.

(March 8, 2013) -- In order to address rising maintenance costs the U.S. Forest Service is proposing increasing camping fees at Ratcliff Recreation Area in the Davy Crockett National Forest and at Stubblefield and Cagle Recreation Areas in Sam Houston National Forest. Both recreation areas are in Texas.
