Our destination was the Pine Mountain RV Resort – we had spent a couple weeks here back in 2015 when our truck was in the shop in Atlanta – and it’s a nice resort. We arrived and got all settled before the rain arrived, and we didn’t get any severe weather at all, so that was a relief.

The campground was fairly empty when we visited mid week however, since the park is located at the north end of Napa Valley, I suspect that it gets busy in the summer. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, food cupboards, restrooms with flush toilets and showers, and a swimming pool. The campsites are roomy, shady, and fairly private due to lots of vegetation between the sites.

There always seems to be new and improved stuff coming at you, but living in an RV requires some careful consideration as to what gets priority over the valuable space inside. We have tried a multitude of gizmos over the years, but these four items are newer additions that have stood up to our demands.

The state park has closed the north half of the campground while construction crews update the electrical systems and add more pull through sites. Once that is done, the park will be completely open for the Fourth of July, then close the south end to update those sites.

The roadway is closed from near a prairie dog town past the park's Cottonwood Campground to Badlands Overlook along the loop road. The slumping occurred about two weeks ago due to erosion from water underneath the road.

Officials have reopened the trails and circled June 15 as the re-open date for day-use areas and Mill Pond Campground. However, that could still change depending on future rainfall amounts.
