Five months after receiving the highest award in the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park franchise network, the Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines has won a “Park of the Year Award” in the medium-size park category from the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO). Source

House Bill 4519, sponsored by state Rep. Steven Johnson, R-Wayland, would require the Department of Natural Resources to provide a two-week window for Michigan residents to make reservations for a campground, cabin, yurt or lodge at a state park or forest before opening up reservations to non-residents. The Six Rivers National Forest is looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers who enjoy the outdoors to serve as campground hosts for the 2019 summer season. There are two campgrounds at Black Butte Lake- Orland Buttes and Buckhorn. Orland Buttes seemed like the lower usage one so we went there. None of the sites are designated as accessible plus the campground is hilly and many of the sites are not level. Source

After living the KOA resort life for the past month, it feels good to be boondocking again! The Navigator found us a sweet spot with easy access, peaceful scenery, and best of all no neighbors! After saying good-bye to the cousins in Georgia, it was time to head to the mountains of Franklin, North Carolina for the RV Quilters (facebook group) SEW2GETHER (a.k.a. Rally)! Tom was not too excited, but I had been looking forward to this all year! It was being held at an RV Resort we’ve stayed at before – The Great Outdoors – it’s a beautiful park, and we really enjoy staying it there. Source
