Finding solitude in California’s oldest state park

(Nov. 15, 2016) -- "Morning mist collects in branches reaching high above the forest floor of Big Basin Redwoods State Park, making me feel as if the trees and I are surrounded by a protective fog. Intense greens of mosses contrast with the subtle colors of lichens and mushrooms on a cool fall day, and decaying needles on the forest floor muffle the sound of my footsteps. Nobody else is here."
