Federal court rules warrantless cellphone tracking is legal
(Aug. 20, 2012) -- NBCNews.com reports that on Tuesday, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that law enforcement officials don’t need a warrant to track suspects via cellphones. In 2006, Melvin Skinner, an interstate drug trafficker hauling a motorhome filled with marijuana, was arrested after his pre-paid cellphone was tracked via GPS.
