U.S. retail sales jump 1.1 percent in February

(March 13, 2013) -- Retail sales in Feb. 2013 jumped 1.1 percent in the month following an upwardly revised 0.2 percent gain in January. The increase was helped by a sizeable and price-related 5.0 percent jump in gasoline station receipts along with a stronger-than-expected 1.1 percent increase in sales at motor vehicle dealerships.
