Princess Craft RV Supplies Campers for Endless Journeys

ROUND ROCK, Texas – From supplying campers for weekend trips to producing off-road campers for a traveling business, Princess Craft RV’s products help create stories trekking from Round Rock to locations all across the country, according to a report by CommunityImpact.com.

Owner PJ Buerger and her husband purchased the business in 1996, when it was still operating as a manufacturing business in downtown Pflugerville.

The company manufactured office trailers, camping shelves and repaired RVs before transitioning into a dealership model. In 2012, Buerger relocated the company to an old bowling alley in Round Rock where it sits today. When acquiring ownership, Buerger was not an RV owner herself, but she’s learned the ins and outs of the business after nearly 30 years of operation.

“I had no idea when we first decided to go in that direction that it was such a diverse community,” Buerger said. “At this point—even though most companies operate nationally—I know many of the manufacturers and many of the leaders in the industry, and it’s quite surprising to me what a small community it is.”

Camping: Practical, Affordable & Restorative Travel Strategy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  A new survey from outdoor travel platform Campspot, in partnership with Pilot, finds that Americans are rethinking what it means to travel this summer. The Pop-Up Escape – a short, spontaneous, one- to three-night camping trip within easy driving distance – is replacing more complex and expensive vacation options for travelers across the country. These stress-free, budget-friendly escapes cater to travelers seeking ways to rest, recharge, and spend more time outdoors by camping, glamping, or RVing, according to a release.

Nearly 9 in 10 travelers surveyed reported they are already planning a Pop-Up Escape this summer, and 91% said they would opt for a local camping trip in favor of an international vacation.

This trend signals a cultural shift toward short, restorative getaways that aligns with the financial and emotional realities many Americans are navigating, and offers travelers the opportunity to get away more frequently rather than planning one, long vacation.

Jeff Bettin

The appeal spans generations. 73% of Gen Z and 75% of Millennials, along with 63% of Gen X and 42% of Baby Boomers, say they plan to take more short trips or weekend getaways this summer. These aren’t bucket-list trips or one-and-done vacations that drain the bank account. Pop-Up Escapes put the traveler in the driver’s seat and are designed for right now: close to home, fast to book, yet still fully restorative.

In addition to increased planning flexibility and lower costs, the impact on travelers’ well-being is substantial. 78% of travelers say they feel less stressed after just two nights of camping, and 35% report feeling more calm the moment they leave for their trip. Across all generations, the consistent desire is for travel that doesn’t add to the overwhelm, but instead helps relieve it.

“The headlines might be focused on rising costs, but the underlying story is much deeper,” said Jeff Bettin, General Manager of Marketplace at Campspot. “Time, energy, money, and even certainty all feel more limited, but people aren’t just looking for cheaper travel. They’re looking for something that resets them, even briefly, without adding more stress to their lives. That is what Pop-Up Escapes offer.”

To meet this rising demand, Campspot is launching its Summer Escape Sale, running June 16 through June 22, with savings of up to 40% at participating campgrounds, RV resorts, and glamping destinations. Travelers can easily browse discounted stays across North America with one easy search.

“Sometimes you just need to get away,” Bettin added. “Not far, and not even for long. Just enough to sleep under the stars, feel something real, and come home feeling like yourself again.”

Travelers can learn more and explore campgrounds at www.campspot.com or the Campspot app, where more than 300,000 campsites are available to book instantly with real-time availability and verified reviews.

About Campspot

Campspot is the go-to booking platform for RV, tent, and glamping sites across North America. With a simple and user-friendly app, campers can discover and reserve sites at thousands of parks, from family-friendly spots to secluded getaways. Whether you’re looking to plan a weekend trip or an epic adventure, Campspot helps you find your perfect destination and book your stay with ease.

OHI Lobbies Capitol Hill for Credit Card Competition Bill

Joined by 22 campground owners and operators,OHI was in Washington, D.C. earlier this month to advocate for critical legislation that impacts the small businesses they represent, according to a release. For more than three years, OHI has been pushing for the passage of the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA), a bipartisan amendment aimed at increasing competition in credit card fees.

Twelve of the 22 OHI members on this Hill visit were first-time advocates, showing strong new momentum from across the industry. The group overall represented 20 states on this issue.

OHI’s Chief Strategy Officer, David Basler, and Government Affairs Strategist, Andrew Mills, led the charge alongside members to push for the CCCA’s inclusion in the GENIUS Act, a Senate bill focused on cryptocurrency regulation.

Co-Sponsors of the CCCA, Senators Roger Marshall, R-Kan., and Richard Durbin, D-Ill., last month had introduced an amendment that would have made the CCCA part of the GENIUS Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for stablecoins. The Senate rarely allows amendments to legislation, however, and on June 11 senators approved a procedural motion to move forward with the GENIUS Act, effectively cutting off consideration of amendments.

The Credit Card Competition Act gained an incredible amount of support and momentum during the Senate’s consideration of the GENIUS Act, so OHI and its coalition partners will continue the fight in Washington, pushing for passage of this important legislation.

“In the past several weeks we have seen a tremendous outpouring of demand that Congress address soaring credit card swipe fees that drive up the price of nearly everything consumers buy,” said David Basler, OHI’s SVP of Government Affairs. “The Outdoor Hospitality Industry and our coalition of small businesses has been joined by military stores, Native American tribes and four of the nation’s largest unions that have all said the time for swipe fee reform has come. Merchants and consumers have been seeking relief from these high fees for years and we won’t give up until the credit card industry has to compete over swipe fees the same way small businesses like RV parks and campgrounds have to compete every day.”

OHI members from across the country also sent in almost 350 letters and made a significant number of phone calls to senators asking for action.

Those endorsements come in addition to support from almost 2,000 companies and nearly 300 trade associations as well as a broad group of consumer, labor and pro-competition organizations.

“Many OHI members have traveled to D.C. for our recent fly-ins, have engaged grassroots and grasstops campaigns, signed on to letters, and helped us grow our network of supporters on this issue and because of all of you, we are now in a better position than ever to get the Credit Card Competition Act passed,” Basler says.

Credit and debit card swipe fees – which have risen 70% since the pandemic and reached a record $187.2 billion in 2024 – are most merchants’ highest operating cost after labor. The fees are far too high to absorb, especially for small merchants, and drive up consumer prices by nearly $1,200 a year for the average family. Swipe fees paid in each state and the amount saved under the CCCA are available here

Visa and Mastercard – which control 80% of the market – each centrally set the swipe fees charged by banks that issue cards under their brands and block transactions from being processed over other networks that could do the job with lower fees and better security. The legislation would require banks with at least $100 billion in assets to enable cards they issue to be processed over at least two unaffiliated networks – Visa or Mastercard plus a competitor like NYCE, Star or Shazam.

Banks would choose which networks to enable but merchants would then choose which to use, resulting in competition over fees, security and service that is expected to save merchants and consumers $17 billion a year. Rewards would not be affected, security would be improved, consumers would still use the same cards, and community banks and all but one credit union would be exempt.

“Our members represent small businesses that operate on razor-thin margins and credit card fees are one of their largest and fastest-growing expenses,” Basler says. “This legislation will help level the playing field by introducing competition and putting choice back in the hands of our members saving them an expected 15% annually on credit card fees.”

“As for what the future holds—our coalition is strong, and it is growing in support every day. OHI members are seeing the work the OHI government affairs team is doing on their behalf in Washington, and they are joining the fight because they are tired of paying exorbitant credit card fees while VISA and Mastercard and the biggest banks in the country make billions each year. This is a David vs Goliath issue and we are on the right side of the fight. David will win (again).”

Horizon, Wave Golf Outing Benefits Care Camps Foundation

Last year, as a celebration of Horizon Transport’s 40th anniversary and Wave Transport’s 20th anniversary, the sister RV transport companies joined to hold the first Red & Blue Open at Black Squirrel Golf Course in Goshen, Ind. On Monday, June 9 they repeated that event.

“Last year it was a continuation of our Driver’s Appreciation weekend,” said Rob Jackson, president of the employee-owned Horizon Transport, “as well as a celebration of our anniversaries and an opportunity to bring awareness to the Care Camps Foundation — the drivers are from all over the country so they can take that information back with them.”

“After the open last year, everyone had so much fun — the drivers made new friends, and they asked if we could do it again next year,” he added.

Jackson pointed out that driving is an “autonomous, individual job so this open gives them the chance to spend time with fellow drivers and get to know each other.”

He said there were about 60 participants in the golf open—50 drivers from both companies and about 10 staff members. Other staff members helped with games and events, including a marshmallow long drive contest with jumbo marshmallows!

This is the only time drivers from both companies have the opportunity to interact.

“We started this event to bring drivers together from both companies for fellowship and fun, to spend time together. The event also promotes the Care Camp Foundation and our 8th year as a supporting partner. Before they played, we announced to drivers that Horizon and Wave will donate $10,000 to the Care Camp Foundation on behalf of the event and we told the drivers how they could help promote Care Camp Foundation as they travel around the country,” Jackson said.

The Care Camp Foundation – www.carecamps.org – is a national non-profit organization that funds medically supervised pediatric oncology camps across the United States and Canada, giving kids a chance to enjoy a week away at camp.

The golf open included food, giveaways and prizes. Jackson said at Monday’s open, “The energy was palpable. The camaraderie, the fellowship of drivers getting together and having fun, and it helps promote interactions between the drivers and staff. It’s awesome to see the joy on their faces and it’s great to invest in our drivers in that way.”
