THOR, Harbinger Hybrid RV Wins ‘World-Changing Idea’

Two companies headquartered in Indiana are being recognized in Fast Company’s annual list of “World Changing Ideas,” according to a report by Inside INDiana Business.

The publication said the list features projects that have created — or are trying to create — “substantive, positive change in the world.”

An editorial team at Fast Company made the list after reviewing more than 1,500 applications. The companies were selected based on four primary criteria: impact, design, scalability, and ingenuity.

Elkhart-based THOR Industries Inc., along with California-based Harbinger Motors, earned the overall award for their hybrid-electric RV, billed as the first ever developed in the country.

The partnership between Thor and Harbinger was first announced in 2022, and the first chassis for the RV’s development was delivered two years later.

The RV, which Fast Company said is set to launch commercially later this year, is designed to deliver 150 miles of electric range and 500 miles with the gas range extender.

Indianapolis-based Ahimsa was received honors in the Social Equity and Accessibility category for its line of stainless steel tableware for children and lunch trays developed for schools.
