OEM Showcase: C10 Overland Trailer by Arkto Campers

EDMONTON, Alberta – Arkto Campers, a leader in outdoor camping solutions, is thrilled to announce the launch of its latest innovation in overland travel trailers: the C10, a compact and lightweight camper designed to provide unmatched ease in towing while staying true to the rugged capabilities and comfort Arkto Campers is known for.

The C10 is a streamlined alternative to its larger sibling, the G12, offering a more accessible option for adventurers with smaller SUVs (including Jeep’s) or vehicles with lower towing capacities. At just 7’4″ in height, the C10 also fits comfortably in most garages, making it a practical choice for more urban dwellers and weekend explorers alike, while still sleeping up to three.

Key differences between the C10 and the G12 highlight its compact versatility, while emphasizing big adventure in a compact design:

  • Two feet shorter in length and 13 inches narrower, allowing for easier maneuverability on tight trails.
  • Six inches less in overall height, but thanks to its clamshell sleeping area, comfort is uncompromised and still affords a 6’11” interior height.
  • A significant weight reduction of 900 pounds, bringing the C10’s curb weight to 2,750 lbs., making it towable by vehicles with as little as 3,500 lbs. of towing capacity.

The lightweight design makes the C10 ideal for smaller SUVs and Jeep owners who want to explore rugged terrain without sacrificing performance or safety. Its compact profile ensures effortless towing and improved fuel efficiency, giving drivers confidence on both highways and backcountry roads.

Despite its smaller size, the C10 doesn’t compromise on features that inspire exploration:

  • Retains Arkto Campers’s signature outdoor kitchen, featuring a dedicated 10 cubic-foot pantry, dual-burner stove, sink with hot/cold water, prep deck, USB/110-volt receptacles, and an interior mounted 113-liter bar style fridge/freezer.
  • Offers best-in-class storage space for gear and other essentials while maintaining standing room inside for added comfort.
  • Includes off-road capabilities via independent suspension, all-terrain tires, and an engineered galvanized steel chassis.

“By reducing the weight and size of our flagship G12, we’ve created a trailer that’s not only easier to tow but also opens up the world of off-grid adventures to a wider range of vehicles, including smaller SUVs and Jeeps,” said Aaron Nerenberg, Principal at Arkto Campers. “Yet the

C10 retains all the off-road capability and comfort our customers love, making it perfect for those who want the G12 experience without needing a larger tow vehicle. This is about empowering more people to explore farther and more easily, and we believe the C10 will be a game-changer for many adventurers.”

The C10 is not only compact but also incredibly capable. Whether navigating trunk roads or venturing off-grid, this camper delivers on every front – comfort, convenience, and adventure-readiness – all while being easier than ever to tow, so you can explore farther with confidence. And with up to 600-watts of solar and 640 amp hours of lithium batteries available, you can venture further, longer.

The C10 will be available early in July, 2025 and start at $64,000 CAD. Pre-orders are available via Arkto Campers’ website now, or by calling (780) 722-3822. For more information on Arkto Campers’ C10 or G12, or to schedule a viewing, please visit arktocampers.com.

Cummins Announces Retirement of Exec Sharon Barner

Sharon Barner

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) announced today (March 18) that Chief Administrative Officer Sharon Barner will be retiring, effective May 31, following an extraordinary career and 13 years of committed service to Cummins.

“Sharon is not only a renowned legal expert and business leader in intellectual property, risk management and environmental and regulatory affairs, she is also a model of courage, integrity and strong leadership,” said Jennifer Rumsey, Chair and CEO, Cummins Inc. “She embodies our values, always lifting others up as she climbs, creating nurturing environments where everyone can thrive and passionately advocating in our communities.”

“A deeply curious and strategic thinker, Sharon’s success is rooted in her ability to solve large, complex problems,” Rumsey added. “She tackles every challenge by building strong relationships and setting clear expectations, fostering trust and a culture of collaboration, empowerment and accountability. I, along with countless others, have been profoundly impacted by her leadership, advocacy and counsel over the past 13 years, and her contributions have helped shape Cummins into the company we are today.”

Barner’s career has spanned both the private and public sector. Prior to joining Cummins, Barner spent 27 years at private practice law firms, many of which in leadership positions, where she focused primarily on intellectual property law. Barner then served in the U.S. Department of Commerce as Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She joined Cummins in 2012, serving first as Vice President and General Counsel, eventually adding interim Chief Human Resources Officer and Corporate Secretary to her responsibilities, before becoming Chief Administrative Officer in 2021.

As Cummins’ Vice President and General Counsel, Barner re-envisioned the Legal function to address external factors, like increased globalization, technological disruption and amplified government oversight. Over nine years in the role, Barner built a globally diverse and talented team of legal experts across 11 countries, skillfully executed multiple large-scale mergers and acquisitions, navigated several complex regulatory matters and continued to protect Cummins’ business interests.

Over the last four years as Chief Administrative Officer, Barner has led 12 corporate functions which provide critical services, expertise and support to Cummins’ global businesses. Among her many accomplishments in this role, she helped lead the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring facilities were compliant with the law and that Cummins was a safe place to work. She also led the functional integration of several large-scale acquisitions – including the acquisition of Meritor, the largest in the company’s history – and served on the Atmus Board of Directors to ensure the successful separation of Cummins’ Filtration business, finalized last year.

Barner has consistently been an early and active mentor for rising talent, both at Cummins and in the community. She was among the first sponsors for many of Cummins’ leadership development programs, and she sponsors several recruiting efforts that help Cummins increase the pipeline and pool of diverse talent. In 2024, Barner generously endowed the Barner-McDuffie House at Syracuse University, her alma mater, ensuring that future generations of Black students have a space where they are seen, supported and celebrated.

Barner currently serves in leadership positions on several public company and not-for-profit boards, including Howmet Aerospace Inc., Syracuse University and the Eskenazi Health Foundation. She has also served on the boards of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School (Indiana), Indiana Repertory Theatre, Association of Corporate Counsel, Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law (FADIPL) and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. Her replacement will be named in the coming weeks.

THOR Announces Strategic Realignment of Heartland RV

ELKHART, Ind. – THOR Industries, Inc. (NYSE: THO), the global leader in the RV industry, announced March 19 a strategic organizational restructuring aimed at optimizing its enterprise structure and strengthening its brand portfolio. As part of this realignment, Heartland Recreational Vehicles will now be integrated under Jayco, Inc., enhancing operational efficiencies and streamlining business processes, according to a release.

Bob Martin

Bob Martin, president and chief executive officer of THOR, emphasized the importance of this restructuring in response to industry trends, “Through the current downcycle, our companies focused on appropriate brand rationalization and right-sizing their product lineups to meet the current market conditions and customer demands.  This restructuring takes the idea of rationalization for optimization to the next level as we considered the impact of the evolved marketplace in the U.S. RV market, which includes significant dealer consolidation.

“This move aligns Heartland with Jayco’s proven track record of optimized operations, a strong competitive brand offering, and customer service.  As we have previously discussed, Heartland has faced recent challenges in these areas while Jayco, under the leadership of Ken Walters, has demonstrated consistent excellence in each area.  Aligning key Heartland brands under the Jayco umbrella creates potential to maximize the performance of those brands.  By leveraging Jayco’s expertise, and leaning into Jayco’s support structure, we are confident that Heartland will achieve meaningful performance improvements, delivering greater value to our customers, dealers, and stakeholders,” said Martin.

Ken Walters

“Jayco and its brands, which include its Jayco flagship as well as Entegra Coach, Highland Ridge RV, and Starcraft, is synonymous with excellence.  That excellence runs from production through the life of a customer’s ownership experience. As we welcome Heartland into the Jayco family, we will ensure the same excellence in the products that Jayco currently offers to the market and also in the relationships that we manage both with our dealers and our retail customers.  Importantly, there will be no disruption of the ownership experience of current Heartland owners and dealers.  We will work with the Heartland customer service team to ensure the same high standards that we provide to our Jayco customers.  We look forward to working with key members of the Heartland team to get those brands back where they belong in the market,” offered Ken Walters, president of Jayco.

As part of the restructuring, certain private label brands manufactured by Heartland will be transferred to Dutchmen Manufacturing, a division of THOR’s subsidiary Keystone RV Company.  “Under the leadership of Aaron Young, these private label brands will be under leadership that has proven its ability to deliver private label offerings with strong margins.  Consolidating this business with Dutchmen’s current lineup will improve our operating leverage at Dutchmen and empower Dutchmen to continue to provide high quality private label brands previously offered by Heartland,” added Martin.

Aaron Young

These moves are expected to provide strategic benefits, including improved synergies across brands, reduced operating costs, enhanced customer service capabilities, and a more efficient distribution strategy to a consolidated dealer base, all of which should drive improved margins for the THOR companies.

“Our goal is to foster a more seamless operational framework that allows us to operate more efficiently and more effectively in the evolving U.S. market,” Martin continued. “This restructuring reflects our dedication to long-term growth, efficiency, and excellence in the RV industry.”

The transition will take place over the coming months, with a focus on ensuring a seamless integration process for employees, dealers, and customers. “Our team members, our customers, and our dealers can expect a return to the same strong products, service, and innovation that once made Heartland a leading company in the industry,” offered Walters.

Camping App ‘The Dyrt’ Names its 2025 Glampy Awards

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Dyrt, the only camping app with all of the public and private campgrounds, RV parks, and free camping locations in the United States, has announced the winners of the 2025 Glampy Awards Presented by the New 2025 Ford Bronco Sport. Now in its fourth year, the Glampys recognize and honor the most unique and innovative glampground destinations throughout the country. And, much like the Bronco Sport, glamping has a unique way of combining rugged and muddy terrain with comfort and well-appointed surroundings.

So what’s new this year? Well, you might be surprised. There are an unusual number of Glampys honorees in Idaho, for example. Some may say that’s too many. Others may say that proves these awards are legit. Some may say there are too many covered wagons. Others may say it’s the year of the covered wagon.

Opinions on Idaho and wagons aside, outdoor lovers are sure to find a glampsite or two worth booking in this year’s collection. Taking top honors this year is Utah’s Zion Glamping Adventures with its luxurious bell tents set against an iconically western backdrop.

“When we first started the Glampy Awards, its purpose was to shine a light on some of the rare finds across the country, glampgrounds that were offering something extraordinary and unique,” says The Dyrt founder Sarah Smith. “Here we are three years later, and glamping has become more integrated into traditional campgrounds. It’s more common to see campgrounds offer glamping sites among many types of camping experiences, which has led to widespread innovation and creativity in glamping.”

Each of these properties has plenty of those little extras that make a campsite into a glampsite, but on top of that, they are all located in beautiful places rich in things to see and do. These are places in which you might even be willing to bed down in a plain old tent on the ground — but you don’t have to. How about, instead, an Appalachian cabin with a hot tub? A geodesic star-viewing station? Or, yes, a luxury Conestoga wagon?

Nominated by The Dyrt’s camping community and awarded on a subjective basis, the winning glampgrounds were chosen for overall glampiness, originality of design, immersion in nature and the surrounding gorgeousness. And with so many amazing glampgrounds across the U.S. these days, previous Glampy Award winners were not eligible.

The winners of the 2025 Glampy Awards Presented by the New 2025 Ford Bronco Sport:

  1. Zion Glamping Adventures — Utah: Luxurious bell tents in a red rock basin
  2. North Haven Campground — Idaho: Wildlife wonderland in the Idaho Panhandle
  3. Twin Falls: Glamping Tents — Texas: Base glamp for outdoor adventures
  4. Untamed Honey Glampsites — Georgia: Wine ‘n’ dine among the Georgia pines
  5. Scruffy Buffalo Ranch — Idaho: Where geodomes meet tranquility
  6. Rock Wren Hideaway — Idaho: Family-friendly outdoors hotspot
  7. Cozy Heron Glamping — North Carolina: Conestoga wagons with king-size beds
  8. Timberline Glamping at Amicalola Falls — Georgia: Safari tents in a state park
  9. Summersville Lake Retreat & Lighthouse — West Virginia: Cabins, vintage RVs and a lighthouse
  10. Roaring River Hills Campground & Cabins — Missouri: Phenomenal fishing in the Ozarks

Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Launches ’25 in 2025′

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR), along with the Confluence of States and over 110 leading outdoor recreation organizations from across the United States – including the RV Industry Association (RVIA), RV Dealers Association (RVDA) and OHI, the national association representing the outdoor hospitality industry – launched the 25 in 2025’ campaign with a challenge to states to create the 25th office of outdoor recreation in this calendar year, following 24 other states who have created such offices since 2013. In the coming months, the campaign will highlight the accomplishments and importance of existing offices of outdoor recreation with new resources and research that will culminate in a convening this fall to celebrate the 25th state.

Jessica Wahl Turner

Jessica Wahl Turner, president of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable, applauded the campaign’s launch, stating, “Few stories represent the bipartisan importance of outdoor recreation better than the 24 states from coast to coast who have created offices of outdoor recreation in just over a decade. These offices are leaders on new initiatives and investments in outdoor recreation for states across the country, creating new economic development, conservation, and public health potential. We are thrilled to highlight the powerful accomplishments of current offices of outdoor recreation over the year and look forward to celebrating the 25thstate together.”

“The 25 in 2025 campaign isn’t just a goal—it’s a call to action for every state to get involved. It’s a vision of a future where every state has an office dedicated to unlocking the full potential of our outdoor spaces,” said Katherine Andrews, 2025 chair of the Confluence of States and director of the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation. “Over the past 12 years, since Utah pioneered the first office in 2013, we’ve seen firsthand how these offices can make a real difference. States across the country have successfully created initiatives that enhance access, protect natural spaces, grow outdoor economies, and foster outdoor recreation. We are incredibly excited to be part of this national movement, and hope it inspires states to invest in their outdoor communities. The work we do today will echo for generations, ensuring that our outdoor spaces remain vibrant, accessible, and protected for future generations to enjoy and cherish.”

The first state office of outdoor recreation was created by Utah Governor Gary Herbert in 2013, recognizing the critical role of outdoor recreation to Utah’s identity, economic competitiveness, and community health. Since that time, nearly half the country has created these offices through executive action or legislation, placing offices or divisions in various agencies to catalyze new growth in their states’ outdoor recreation economies and access for all. A map with all states that have created offices of outdoor recreation can be found here.

Today’s campaign launch also includes the launch of a new resource called “How to Create an Office of Outdoor Recreation.” This new tool aggregates best practices that helped other states create offices of outdoor recreation and will be displayed alongside several other resources that ORR has created in partnership with the Confluence of States, including A Guidebook to Developing Offices of Outdoor RecreationStrategies to Support Offices of Outdoor RecreationPathways and Structures for Offices of Outdoor RecreationThe Value of Offices of Outdoor Recreationand more, located on ORR’s state resource page. During the year, additional resources related to the importance of offices of outdoor recreation will be released to help stimulate new investment in existing offices of outdoor recreation.

’25 in 2025’ follows a historic year for the outdoor recreation economy that included passage of the EXPLORE Act, the most comprehensive update to outdoor recreation policy in recent history, as well as a new data release from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis showing that outdoor recreation generated $1.2 trillion (2.3% of GDP) and 5 million jobs for the U.S. economy in 2023, growing 36% in real terms since 2012.

About ORR

The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable is the nation’s leading coalition of outdoor recreation associations representing the more than 110,000 outdoor businesses in the recreation economy and the full spectrum of outdoor-related activities. The most recent data from the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that outdoor recreation generated $1.2 trillion in economic output (2.3% of GDP), 5 million jobs and comprises 3.1% of U.S. employees.
