NPS awards $1.6 million to protect battlefields

(July 14, 2016) -- The National Park Service has awarded more than $1.6 million in grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund in 2016 to preserve 397.61 acres at 11 of America’s battlefields. The grants will fund projects at battlefields that are threatened by development in Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
