Thames council cracks down on ‘freedom camper’

(May 14, 2015) -- Lindsay Maindonald, from Eltham, told Stuff he was shocked when he was hit with a $200 ticket from the Thames - Coromandel District Council for freedom camping while his family was in his "self-contained" campervan in a designated area.
