Bear-aware and safe campfire practices encouraged

(April 16, 2013) -- Campgrounds on the Payson Ranger District in Arizona are now open, with bear-proof dumpsters in all six campgrounds as well as food storage boxes in about half of the 63 campsites in Ponderosa Campground. The Forest Service gives bear and fire safety reminders.
