U.S. payroll employment rises; Canadian unemployment up

(April 5, 2013) -- March 2013 U.S. non-farm payroll employment rose a smaller-than-expected 88,000. The U.S. trade deficit narrowed to a smaller-than-expected $43.0 billion in Feb. 2013. The Canadian merchandise trade balance unexpectedly deteriorated to a $1.0 billion deficit in Feb. 2013. And Canadian employment fell by 54,500 in March 2013.
