California’s Sierra Nevada region gets hit with wintry storm

(March 1, 2012) -- Snow blanketed the Sierra Nevada today as a cold wintry blast moved through the state. As of this morning, the major highways across the Sierra Nevada were open, but chains were required on Interstate 80 and Highway 50, reports the Sacramento Bee.
